Lego has been very busy

This is a picture of a fully functional, programmable robot with motors and sensors. The kit, which costs about $250 is the next generation of Lego's Mindstorm brand. I read about this a few months ago in Business 2.0 magazine. What is special about this (besides being wicked cool and reasonably priced) is the method Lego used to develop it. They involved the community of hackers that other companies routinely as ask to cease and desist. That is, individuals that create "unlicensed" accessories in the form of software and hard-ware add-ons. Not only did Lego embrace this group of hard-core fans. The next version will make hacking even easier since the software will be open source. Way to go Lego! I may just have to go out and buy a set. Read more at Gizmodo.
