New Home

Redesign of my homepage is done, but I am not sure I like it. Waiting for your comments.

Are you really, really, really tired of pop-up ads?

Well I am. Or was anyway until I discovered two steps we can do to get rid of the little buggers. I did them and I will let you know if they work. (My silence and lack of further opinion will be my signal of liberation as I doubt I will prompted to post again on this subject if these little tricks work.)

Step 1: Uninstall any "spy-ware" - You may have spy-ware on you computer. These are little programs that randomly pop-up new browser windows with ads. They do this regardless of where you go on the web. To detect and destroy these little programs you need to get this: Adaware

Step 2: Opt Out with cookies - This step does not require installation of any software. Instead you must venture into the heart of enemy territory (the ad company's website) and once there, locate the anti-venom, the Kryptonite, the silver bullet, if you will, the Opt Out button. This will put a little cookie in your browser that tells them "NO MEANS NO" or should anyway. The lucky thing for you is I found a site that has all the opt out buttons found and gives us links to them. And here it is. - Good luck to us all.

Website Usabilty: News Sites

This is what a news website should look like. I discovered the Ananova (www.ananova.com) website after reading a post on Dave Barry's Blog about the stolen Oscar dress of Angelina Jolie. The Ananova website is very elegant and simple, and may be the most easy to use I have seen lately.

In terms of the best use of technology however, I still have to point to the International Herald Tribune as a top site. Both sites are very good and easy to use. IHT has a lot more features. Since I don't use either sites regularly, I will be watching closely to see which style others begin to emulate.

Deeper Meaning

I watched the episode of "Everybody loves Raymond" where Ray discovers that a local radio personality doesn't like him. In the final confrontation the man is brutal to Ray in a way that I am sure most of us can relate. When Ray presses for an explanation of why the man, who he has never met, should dislike him, the man explains that he "doesn't get it". Doesn't understand why other people like Ray. He has heard him speak, seen him in public, and doesn't get it.

Permission for success and the construction of a positive personal brand is granted by the mutual consensus, generosity, and often times the complacence of ones peers. For at anytime, the determination of a single dissenting voice could undermine the fragile ego, integrity, and promise of any man no matter how virtuous. Where the virtuous man can be destroyed by lies, the un-virtuous are destroyed by truth. Thus enemies are created and karma gets it teeth.

Pop Sunflower Seed

I was on the web looking to see what other kinds of seeds "pop" other than corn when I can across article about the cost of cereal. Interesting, but if congress passed a law against every form of price gouging America would not the place that it is. For better or worse.

Sweet Sweet Sweat

If this gets out, singles bars are going to be unbearable. Not to mention the gym!
